A rural Tonganoxie man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly battered his wife and stabbed himself, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The man 38-year-old man refused treatment from Leavenworth County EMS. But he later was treated at Cushing Hospital, according to the report.
The incident was reported at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Kansas Avenue.
During a domestic dispute, the man allegedly grabbed his 33-year-old wife by the neck, threw her to the floor and slapped her face. The woman told officers that her husband stabbed himself and threatened to cut his throat with a kitchen knife before authorities arrived, according to the report.
The woman suffered a cut to her foot from a broken lamp during the altercation, but she did not require transport to the hospital.
