A deck fire at a Leavenworth apartment was extinguished by the time firefighters arrived on the scene Friday morning, a Fire Department spokesman.

Assistant Fire Chief Mike Lingenfelser said the incident is classified as a structure fire, making it the sixth one in the city of Leavenworth so far this month.

Friday’s fire was reported at 11:34 a.m. 1312 Stoneleigh Court. Lingenfelser said the fire damaged the corner of a wooden deck, which was located on the back side of an apartment. The fire is estimated to have caused about $1,000 worth of damage.

It’s believed the fire was caused by a discarded cigarette. No injuries were reported, according to Lingenfelser.
