Two people were taken to the hospital after motorcycles collided Sunday night in north Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The crash was reported at 8:41 p.m. Sunday at 12th and Osage streets.
A 52-year-old Leavenworth man was traveling south on 12th Street in a 1981 Kawasaki motorcycle when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. He traveled in front of a westbound 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, according to Maj. Robert Smith, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The 42-year-old Leavenworth man operating the Harley-Davidson was unable to stop or avoid a collision. His motorcycle struck the Kawasaki.

The 52-year-old man was transported to the hospital suffering from apparent fractures to his left leg. A 50-year-old Leavenworth woman who had been a passenger on the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was taken to the hospital for possible head and neck injuries, Smith said.

The 52-year-old man was ticketed for allegations that he failed to yield at a stop sign and had no proof of insurance, Smith said.
