After hearing a loud noise Saturday in Leavenworth, a motorist discovered that a bullet had been fired into her vehicle, a police spokesman said.
No injuries were reported. The incident was reported about 12:20 p.m. Saturday.
The 60-year-old Leavenworth woman was driving north on Seventh Street in the area of Pottawatomie Street when she heard a loud noise. And it sounded like something had hit her vehicle, a 2008 Mercury Mariner, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
“She pulled over in a parking lot and got out to check her car and found a hole in the driver-side rear door,” Nicodemus said.
Police were contacted. Nicodemus said it appears the hole was made by a bullet, but police didn’t recover the bullet.
He said the woman had no idea why someone would shoot at her vehicle.
