A man was sentenced Friday in Leavenworth County District Court to two days in jail and two years of probation for aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony.
Bruce F. Skelton, 58, lives in Tennessee, but the crime occurred October 2008 in Lansing. The victim was a 14-year-old girl.
Skelton had been charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child who was at least 14. But he pleaded no contest last month to an amended charged as part of an agreement made between the defense and prosecution.
During Friday’s sentencing hearing, defense attorney Deb Snider argued for allowing Skelton to serve his probation in the state where he lives.
“He will still be monitored in Tennessee,” Snider said.
