A prosecutor is seeking to use information about a previous crime during the trial of a Lansing man who is accused of taking indecent liberties with a 6-year-old boy.

A judge heard arguments on a prosecution motion Thursday in the case of Joseph P. Ward.

District Judge Gunnar Sundby didn’t make a ruling on the motion. The judge said he needs more information.

Ward, 45, is charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The crime is alleged to have occurred Sept. 9, 2008, at a Lansing residence.

A trial has been scheduled for Dec. 7.
