A man has been sentenced to a year in prison for threatening people with a gun in Linwood, according to a prosecution official.

Jordan Noble, 21, Eurdora, was sentenced Friday in Leavenworth County District Court.

He pleaded no contest to aggravated assault with a weapon last month for an incident that occurred June 4.

Noble had an issue with a couple, and he began yelling obscenities at them at the intersection of Third and Main streets in Linwood. He pulled out what the victims said was handgun, according to County Attorney Todd Thompson.

Noble reportedly told the couple to get out of his town or he would shoot them dead.

During Friday’s sentencing, Noble said he was “highly influenced on drugs and not on the right state of mind” and did not realize the seriousness of his actions, according to Thompson.

The judge informed Noble that the Legislature had included special rules in state sentencing guidelines for crimes that occur with guns. The judge said he was following those special rules when he sentenced Noble to 12 months, according to Thompson.
