Leavenworth authorities are investigating a burglary during which woman was beaten with a hammer, a police spokesman said.
The 24-year-old woman went to the hospital. Officers found drugs at the scene, according to police Lt. Kevin Crim.
The incident was reported shortly after 1 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Osage Street.
“(The victim) said that the suspects kicked in her door, beat her with a hammer and stole items from her home,” Crim said.
The lieutenant said the woman reported there were three suspects and she was able to identify two of them.
A police report indicates a purse, $850 in cash and a laptop computer were reported stolen.
While police were at the residence they reportedly noticed drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view. The items were seized. Crim said information about the drugs will be forwarded to a prosecutor for possible charges.
