A man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman Monday afternoon at a Lansing residence, a police spokesman said.
At one point, the man allegedly ran from police. But officers eventually apprehended him at a park, Lansing Police Chief Steve Wayman said.
Officers received a report of a domestic disturbance at about 1:15 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of North Fourth Street. The suspect allegedly had pointed the handgun at the victim’s head during the altercation.
The man had left the residence on foot before police arrived.
Wayman said he spotted a man matching the suspect’s description in the 600 block of Connie Street.
“The subject saw my vehicle from a distance and fled to the south on foot,” Wayman said.
The chief said the suspect ran into the a wooded area. Police Lt. Fed Grenier later saw the man on Second Street and called for additional officers.
“We swarmed the area,” Wayman said.
The man was taken into custody at Lansing City Park, American Avenue and Second Street, without putting up resistance. It was thought the suspect may have been carrying the handgun that reportedly was used during the altercation, but the weapon was not found on him.
Wayman said police searched the areas where the man had been seen but did not locate a firearm.
The man was arrested for allegations of aggravated assault, battery, criminal damage to property and theft.
