A recent report from engineers on the project to build a new Emergency Medical Services station on Eisenhower Road suggests there could be a way to save some money.
However, as the Leavenworth County Commission found out during a meeting on Monday, those savings would force the Kansas State Research and Extension Office to have to find a new home.
In August, the commission approved one of three options presented by architects Gossen-Livingston for the new EMS building. That option was a renovation of a portion of the existing health department building on Eisenhower — which also houses the K-State extension office — along with the construction of another adjacent building for the EMS station.
