Boy shot by accident

A teenage boy accidentally was shot in the arm by a friend Sunday evening at a Leavenworth residence, a police spokesman said.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to the hospital.

“There’s no life-threatening injuries,” said Maj. Robert Smith, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The incident was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Isabelle Street.

Smith said the victim and his 17-year-old friend confirmed the shooting had been an accident.
