Leavenworth, Kan. -

Three people were taken to the hospital following a crash Sunday morning in north Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The crash was reported at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Broadway and Kiowa Street.

A 62-year-old Parkville, Mo., man was driving west on Kiowa Street in a 2005 Ford 500. He stopped at a stop sign, according to Maj. Robert Smith, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The driver allegedly failed to yield to other traffic and proceeded into the intersection. His car collided with a 2005 Nissan Altima that was traveling north on Broadway, Smith said.

The Altima was driven by a 51-year-old Leavenworth woman. She and her passenger, a 26-year-old Leavenworth woman, were transported to Saint John Hospital for minor injuries, according to Smith.

The other driver was transported to the Eisenhower VA Medical Center. The 62-year-old man complained of pain in a hip and his chest area, according to Smith.

The man was cited by police for allegedly failing to yield the right of way, Smith said.
