“It was a humbling experience,” Maxwell said Monday during a telephone interview.

Maxwell is a “humanitarian at heart, and has tremendous dedication to his home of Leavenworth,” Eric Jacobs, president of Mogul Staffing Solutions, wrote in a letter supporting the award nomination.

Maxwell, a lifelong resident of the community, has owned and operated the Wood Stock Shop since 1980.
