A Leavenworth woman has been charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy, law enforcement and prosecution officials confirmed.

Brenda M. Keister, 34, made her first appearance Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court. She is charged with one count of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child and three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, according to court records.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred between April 2009 and April 2010 at a Leavenworth residence. The boy is now 14.

Keister was arrested Tuesday on a warrant, according to Maj. Robert Smith, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

County Attorney Todd Thompson said bond for Keister was set at $250,000.
Undersheriff Ron Cranor said it appeared Wednesday afternoon that Keister had not posted the bond.

Keister has indicated she wants to apply for a court-appointed attorney. She is next scheduled to appear in court Monday, according to court records.
