Each year, organizations across the state receive toothbrush kits from the Delta Dental of Kansas Foundation to support their oral health initiatives.

Last week, the foundation announced recipients of this year’s toothbrush kit donations, and the Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation was one of the organizations.

Each toothbrush kit includes a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss.

“This year we donated more than 100,000 toothbrush kits to oral health programs in Kansas” Karen Finstad, executive director of Delta Dental of Kansas Foundation, said in a news release. “That is 100,000 children and adults who are being given access to oral care they may not have otherwise had.”

The Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation will receive 1,296 kits, according to Carol Ayres, coordinator for the education foundation.

She said the kits will be distributed to students and Anthony and Earl M. Lawson elementary schools as part of an oral wellness program.
