Leavenworth school administrators have proposed keeping the grade configuration that is being used this year at West Middle School and Richard W. Warren Middle School.
This year, all fifth- and sixth-graders in the Leavenworth public school system attend classes at West Middle School. All seventh- and eighth-graders go to Warren Middle School.
Associate Superintendent Eric Punswick has reviewed a recommendation for keeping the same configuration for the 2010-2011 school year with members of the Leavenworth Board of Education. And information about the proposal has been posted on the school district’s Web site.
In previous years, West and Warren each had classes for students in grades six through eight. Fifth-grade students attended classes at elementary schools.
The current configuration was enacted as part of what school officials have called a transition year.
