A teenager reported being robbed at knifepoint Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a Leavenworth store, a police spokesman said.

The 16-year-old boy was not harmed. The suspect got away with a $50 bill, according to Maj. Robert Smith, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The incident was said to have occurred at about noon Sunday in the parking lot of Kmart, 4820 S. Fourth St.

The boy reported to police he had gone to the store with his younger brother.

“They both entered the store when the victim realized he left his money in the car,” Smith said.

The 16-year-old boy went back to the vehicle to retrieve a $50 bill from the car’s console. After retrieving the money, the boy reportedly was grabbed from behind. A knife was placed to his throat.
