A dog will be quarantined at its owner’s residence after it bit a 2-year-old boy Sunday in rural Tonganoxie, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at 20121 Douglas Road. Garrett E. Staatz was playing with a mixed- breed dog that belongs to a neighbor. The dog bit Staatz when the child tried to “kiss” the animal, according to the report.
The boy apparently was taken to Saint John Hospital after the incident. Deputies went to the hospital to take a report.
The boy suffered cuts on his left cheek and scratches near his right eye, according to the report.
The dog’s owner, Donald W. Donell, indicated the animal is current on its vaccinations, according to the report.
Tonganoxie, Kan. —
