A Leavenworth woman accused of the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy pleaded not guilty Friday. But her attorney indicated she may be ready to enter into a plea agreement next week.

Brenda M. Keister, 34, is charged with one count of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child and three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. The crimes are alleged to have occurred between April 2009 and April 2010 at a Leavenworth residence.

Keister waived her right to a preliminary hearing last week and appeared Friday in Leavenworth County District Court for arraignment.

Defense Attorney Gary Fuller said Keister would enter a not guilty plea Friday. But she probably would enter a different plea next week.

District Judge Gunnar Sundby scheduled a trial for Oct. 25 and a pretrial conference for Aug. 20.

Keister remains in custody at the Leavenworth County Jail.
