A man was arrested after he allegedly bolted on foot during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon west of Tonganoxie, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred shortly before 2:50 p.m. Wednesday at Kansas Highway 16 and Hatchell Street.
A deputy stopped a 33-year-old Tonganoxie man for allegedly speeding on K-16 in a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria. The man allegedly left the vehicle and ran, according to the report.
The officer told the man to stop several times. The deputy ended up using a Taser gun on the suspect, according to the report.
After the incident, the man indicated he was OK and did not need to be checked by Leavenworth County EMS personnel, according to the report.
He was arrested for obstruction of an official duty or legal process, transporting an open container of alcohol and driving with no proof of insurance, according to the report.
