A man robbing a Leavenworth motel fled the scene Saturday morning after a couple of gunshots were fired at him, a police spokesman said.
The robber was not apprehended. He may have been responsible for another robbery committed earlier the same day, according to Maj. Robert Smith, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The motel robbery was reported at 9:36 a.m. Saturday at Commander’s Inn, 1118 N. Sixth St.
The suspect reportedly entered the motel office, saying he wanted to check into a room.
When the clerk, a 68-year-old man, went behind a counter, he was followed by the suspect.
The suspect grabbed the other man around the neck. The suspect pulled open a money drawer and removed cash, according to Smith.
