A Leavenworth woman accused of the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy has been found competent to stand trial.
District Judge Gunnar Sundby ruled on Brenda M. Keister’s competency Friday based on a report of the findings of an evaluation of the defendant.
Keister, 34, is charged with one count of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child and three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. The crimes are alleged to have occurred between April 2009 and April 2010 at a Leavenworth residence.
After finding Keister competent, Sundby scheduled a preliminary hearing for Aug. 19.
Keister remains in custody at the Leavenworth County Jail.
