Without ever leaving their classroom Thursday, second-graders at Nettie Hartnett Elementary School sampled cuisine from around the world.

Students in teacher David Day’s class had an international food fair.

Day said the fair was organized after vocabulary words such as “international” and “culture” were featured in class reading material.

The teacher said he felt the food fair would help provide an understanding of the word “international.”

Students were served items from French, Chinese, Mexican, Vietnamese, German and Italian cuisine. Day said students agreed to try a bite of everything.
