Leavenworth County will hold its next public H1N1 flu clinic from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23 at the old Food 4 Less building at 2916 S. Fourth St. behind Applebee’s. The clinic will be until 7 p.m. or until the vaccine supply is exhausted.
There will be no cost to receive the vaccination at the clinic. Any Leavenworth County resident who is younger than 65 years old will be eligible to receive the vaccine at the clinic.
The nasal spray vaccine will be administered to healthy individuals who are not pregnant and are age appropriate from ages 2 through 49 years old and meet the priority group specified above while supplies last.
Pregnant women and children from 6 months to 2 years old and people older than 49 years old will not be eligible for the nasal spray vaccine and will receive an injectable dose.
Children who are from 6 months through 9 years old will need to receive two doses of vaccine at least 28 days apart. It will not be necessary to have the second dose administered at exactly 28 days, but within a reasonable timeframe thereafter.
The Leavenworth County Health Department will be closed Monday, Nov. 23 because staff members will be conducting the mass H1N1 Vaccine Clinic at the old Food 4 Less building.
The Health Department will reopen Tuesday, Nov. 24.
