I can state unequivocally that the Kansas administration and legislature are not shying away from the difficult issues. Of course, our stagnant economy is the primary concern for all of us. We want to see Kansas growing and thriving. To that end, nothing is off the table. Improving taxes, spending, education, pensions, and social services are subjects of hot debate and much analysis and brainstorming. Clearly the problems in these areas are not easy to solve-and often offering possible solutions is not very popular. While change can be unsettling, but it is necessary and long overdue in Kansas government. I work every day to ensure that state government is efficient, open, and smaller. The best way to create prosperity and growth is to let individual Kansans do what they always do in tough times: work hard and lead the way.
