A man in a zombie costume reportedly led police on a short pursuit early Sunday morning after his vehicle was spotted in a Lansing cemetery, a police spokesman said.

The incident began at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Desoto and Eisenhower roads.

An officer on a patrol noticed a vehicle in a roadway at the cemetery, according to Lansing Police Chief Steve Wayman.

The officer turned on what Wayman referred to as alley lights on the police vehicle’s light bar.

“And when he did so, the (suspect’s) vehicle accelerated rapidly away in reverse,” Wayman said.

The driver reportedly pulled out onto Desoto road and his vehicle slid sideways in the process. The vehicle traveled south on Desoto, according to Wayman.

“The officer did go in pursuit of the vehicle,” the chief said.
