The trial of a man accused of sexually abusing his niece at his Linwood residence was expected to resume today.

Chris King, 33, is charged with two counts of rape involving sexual intercourse with a child who is 14 years of age, one count of aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of indecent liberties with a child.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred between Aug. 20, 2007, and Jan. 3, 2008.

The victim, who is now 10, was living with King and his wife at the time.

King’s trial began Monday. The morning was spent on selecting a jury of seven men and five women.

Attorneys made their opening statements in the afternoon. And three prosecution witnesses testified before the trial was recessed for the day.
