The Kansas City, Mo., -based Central Bag Company is preparing to make the move to Leavenworth, according to an official from the Leavenworth County Development Corporation.
Steve Jack, executive director of LCDC, said the decision came after negotiations with the company started late last year.
Since 1929, Central Bag President Chris Klimek said the company has manufactured textile bags and has more recently added the import and distribution of paper, polyethylene and woven polypropylene bags and other packaging products.
Klimek said his company had been talking about moving to another facility since he was elected president in 2001 when the company, which has been employee-owned since 1989, decided its future direction.
