A woman suffered minor injuries after her bicycle collided with a car Tuesday afternoon in Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.
The accident was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway and Pennsylvania Avenue.
A 39-year-old Leavenworth woman was traveling north on Broadway and came upon an intersection with a four-way stop. A 70-year-old Leavenworth man was driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 sedan west on Pennsylvania and came upon the same intersection, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
“They both stopped at the stop sign at the same time,” Nicodemus said.
They both then proceeded into the intersection and collided. The cyclist was knocked to the ground. She suffered an abrasion to her hip.
“She also complained of neck pain,” Nicodemus said.
She was taken to the hospital and later released.
The woman was cited by police for allegedly failing to yield the right of way. Nicodemus said the cyclist should have yielded to the vehicle on her right, which was the sedan.
