Vivian Moore, a longtime resident of Leavenworth County, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Grace Gardens nursing home in Leawood, Kansas.

Vivian Moore, a longtime resident of Leavenworth County, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Grace Gardens nursing home in Leawood, Kansas. Vivian was the daughter of John and Ann Monack and was born in Kansas City on July 7, 1921 and was 95 years old at the time of her death. She married a local farmer, Thurman Moore, in 1940, and the two of them made a successful life and agricultural business, raising livestock and 
grain in northeast Kansas. Her husband Thurman, both of her parents, and siblings Helen McCarthy, Raymond Monack, and Loretta Allebach preceded her in death.
She graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City in 1939 and graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts in 1979. Vivian was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic parish in Leavenworth, Kansas. After a long career at the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, she retired in 1986. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, and traveling to Europe.
She is succeeded by two children, Lyle Moore of Leawood, Kansas, Craig Moore of Leavenworth County and four grandchildren, Michael Moore of New York, New York, Katherine Moore of Orlando, Florida, John Moore of McPherson, Kansas and Megan Moore of Overland Park, Kansas.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 6 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth.
Requiem Mass will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Leavenworth. Interment will be at Mount Cavalry Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be left on Vivian’s online guestbook at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com
