Evelyn Hoover, 91, of Leavenworth, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Belden-Larkin Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m., burial to follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Dr. Nathan Gunter, Pastor of the Lansing 1st Southern Baptist Church.  Evelyn was born on July 9, 1925 to Harland and Leona (Martin) Thomas in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was retired from the Leavenworth Veterans Administration Center where she worked for nearly 25 years as a clerk in domiciliary services. In retirement she enjoyed birdwatching, puzzles and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by a son Kevin Alan Harrison and husband Henry Hoover. She is survived by two children, Sharon (Loren) Russell and James Ronald Harrison, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials in her name may be given to the Leavenworth Humane Society.
