Reinhilde Elisabeth Clark, 62, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Luke’s Cushing Hospital. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26 from noon to 2 p.m. at Belden-Larkin Funeral Home. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with a reception immediately following at VFW Post 56 George Edward White Post, 519 Cherokee, in Leavenworth.
Reinhilde was born to Fritz and Elisabeth, June 2, 1954, in Aschaffenburg, Germany. She moved to Leavenworth in the late 70’s, where she began working at Marlow White Uniform Company, where she created awards and decorations for more than 38 years, up until the day she died.
She was preceded in death by her father Fritz, mother Elisabeth, and an infant daughter, Michelle Elisabeth. She is survived by her son Stacy Clark, daughter-in-law Cynthia (Cadmus) Clark, of Parkville Mo. Her pride and joy were her two granddaughters, Hayley and Madeline also of Parkville. Reinhilde was also very close to her sister Monika Beatty of Caledonia, Miss., and her brother Peter of Aschaffenburg, Germany.
Reinhilde was very proud of her German heritage, which is evident by her collection of nutcrackers, smoking men, holiday pyramids, and Hummel figurines. She also enjoyed aliens and spending time at the local riverboat casinos. Reinhilde was known for her German cheesecakes, and would make them for every occasion. Caring is a word that best describes her character. Her favorite memories were visiting her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters at their military duty stations, which were always near the ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., and Honolulu, Hi. She loved walking on the beach, collecting seashells, and listening to the waves. Flowers are always welcome, however, we we’ll also be taking donations to a college fund for her grandchildren.
