David Lee Connell Sr., 88, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away, Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Azria Health in Olathe, Kansas.

David Lee Connell Sr., 88, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away, Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Azria Health in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born June 3, 1929 in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of Delmar J. and Ida P. Connell. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Sedalia, in 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Navy from 1947 to 1951. He retired from Trans World Airlines in 1991, after 35 years of service. Hobbies included gardening, HAM radio operator (K0DHV), camping, and spending time with family.
He married Lucille G. Schumaker on October 20, 1951 at the San Diego Naval Base. They were married for 49 years.
David is survived by his wife, Eleanor G. Hammes Connell (Seneca, Kansas), four sons, David L. Connell Jr. (Leavenworth, Kansas), Steve Connell (Leavenworth, Kansas), Michael A. Connell (Kansas City, Missouri), and John A. Connell (Browns Summit, North Carolina), four daughters, Clarice A. Phillips (Leavenworth, Kansas), Carol M. Hayes (Leavenworth, Kansas), Karen A. Bouwman (Sharpsburg, Georgia), and Linda M. Moore (Fort Worth, Texas), 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, three stepsons, Dan Hammes (Seneca, Kansas), Doug Hammes (Seneca, Kansas), and Jim Hammes (Seneca, Kansas), stepdaughter, Alice Trower (Ann Arbor, Michigan), and nine step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Connell, three children, Kevin L. Connell, Delmar J. Connell, and Geri A. Connell, two grandchildren, Jill M. Hayes Brown, and R.J. Pearson, his parents, two brothers, Jack Connell and Earl Connell, three sisters, Dorothy Connell Childers, Mildred and Pearl Connell.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Davis Funeral Chapel with the Rosary at 5:15 p.m. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
