Leonard P. Robinson, 92, of Leavenworth, died, Oct. 31, 2017, peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Leonard P. Robinson, 92, of Leavenworth, died, Oct. 31, 2017, peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Leavenworth, the son of Leonard P. Sr. and Helen (Simanowitz) Robinson.
Mr. Robinson served as a paratrooper during World War II. He was an aviation enthusiast and enjoyed spending time boating on the lake. He worked in construction and was employed by Smith Brothers, Boeppler and Son and Besel’s. He retired in 1991.
He was a member of the St. Casimir Church and St. Casimir Church Men’s Society.
On July 26, 1952, Leonard married the love of his life, Doris Gwartney, she survives at the home. He is also survived by a son, John (MaryLyn) Robinson of Peachtree City, Ga.; two daughters, Kelli (John) Denney of Leavenworth and Mary (Patrick) Brown of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Karl Denney, Lynae (Denney) Hensley, Megan (Denney) Bedard, Trenton Denney, and Natalie Robinson; six great-grandchildren, Devon Denney, Kylene, Maddox, and Arabella Hensley, and Emerson and Juliana Bedard; and four siblings, James Robinson, Michael Robinson, Patti Myers, and Ruth Sullivan.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Betty Hosler, Alice Gonzalez, and Barbara Wacker.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Casimir Church with Rev. Phillip Winkelbauer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that masses be offered at St. Casimir or Sacred Heart Churches or donations provided to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
