Brett Matthew Miller, 47, of Leavenworth, died unexpectedly, Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at the VA Medical center. He was born Oct. 10, 1970, in Little Rock, Ark., the son of Phillip Patrick and Linda Ann (Marino) Miller.
After joining the Army, Brett was stationed in Leavenworth, Kan. where he met his wife Brenda. She survives at the home. He is also survived by his twin daughters, Noelle and Hannah; his mother; two brothers, Michael and David; two sisters, Stephanie and Jennifer; and his Aunt Sue and her family.
Brett was preceded in death by his father.
From an early age Brett set about teaching his girls to pursue their dreams and is remembered as a loving and patient father. After separating from the Army Brett worked at the Lansing Correctional Facility and later at the Leavenworth Detention Center (CoreCivic) where as a Captain he was known for his hard work, dedication and his unwavering desire to mentor and develop staff.
Brett will be remembered by those who knew him as generous, witty and kind. A loyal husband, father, friend and co-worker who was passionate about his family, his job, his country and of course, bacon.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
