Donald Eugene Magee, 76, of Leavenworth, died, Tuesday, Jan 2, 2018, at his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Penn., the son of Eugene and Sadie (Trufley) Magee.
On Aug. 26, 1966, Donald married Flora May Banks in Leavenworth. She preceded him in death April 25, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Donald is survived by two sons, Patrick Andrew Magee of Junction City, Kansas, and James Bryan Magee of Leavenworth; six grandchildren, Austin Magee, Brett Magee, Cody Magee, Abbie Magee, Alex Magee and Logan Magee; two brothers, William P. (Kay) Magee of Butler, Pennsylvania and John F. Magee of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Margaret (Joe) Tomsey of Butler, Pennsylvania.
He served honorably in the United States Army and Air Force. During his time in the military he did two tours in Vietnam. He retired after 35 years of service from the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Veterans Administration.
Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and woodworking. He loved softball and played for over 40 years.
He was a member of Shriner’s, Masonic Lodge #245 and Senior Softball U.S.A.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Leavenworth County Humane Society.
