Elsie Marie Marsh, age 92 of Nixa / Springfield, Missouri, and formerly of Leavenworth, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018.

Elsie Marie Marsh, age 92 of Nixa / Springfield, Missouri, and formerly of Leavenworth, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was born June 4, 1925, in Freedom, Missouri to Emil and Mary Niewald.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and eight siblings Al, Vic, Ken, Fred, Ella, Lorene, Eldo and Eleanor. The Marsh family lived in Kickapoo and Leavenworth, Kansas for many years and she worked as a dental assistant and an oral surgery nurse at the VA at Wadsworth in Leavenworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert J. Marsh. To this union there were three sons, Reverend Joseph Alan of White Bear, Minnesota, Robert Steven of Salinas, California, and Dennis Dean, of Springfield, Missouri as well as five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
During their time in Leavenworth, Bob and Elsie were very involved with the Know Your World Program at the Command General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, and sponsored 57 officers from 19 different countries from around the world. They were able to enjoy many trips to Europe where they visited their allied friends that they had become associated with. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church and their children all attended the school as well as graduating from LHS in 1964, 1966 and 1974.
After retiring in 1977, Robert and Elsie moved to Forsyth, Missouri and built a retirement home where they lived until their 50th wedding anniversary. They purchased a motor home and traveled for five years. Trips included traveling to Mexico, Alaska, and all of the US states, and all but one Canadian province.
Bob and Elsie were able to enjoy friends, family, and most of all, each other. They were very involved with the Lutheran Church throughout their lives, and were active members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nixa, and were involved with starting several churches wherever they were residing.
Inurnment will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri, along side her beloved husband Bob.
