Gayle Elaine Meredith, 66, of Leavenworth, was called home to her heavenly father, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, after a 5 year battle with breast cancer.
Gayle Elaine Meredith, 66, of Leavenworth, was called home to her heavenly father, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, after a 5 year battle with breast cancer. She was born Sept. 22, 1951, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy (Wilk) McCune.
She graduated from Leavenworth High School.
Gayle is survived by two sons, Larry Meredith Jr. and Francis L. Meredith; two sisters, Shirley Morris and Barbara Thomasson; a daughter-in-law, Ashley Hattok; a granddaughter, Harley Hymiller; her partner of 17 years, Paul Hattok.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mary Patricia Powers and Dorothy Timmons; and a brother, Francis Henry “Buddy Boy” McCune.
Gayle loved horseback riding. She rode cutting horses, competed in pole bending and barrel racing. She also showed horses in western pleasure. Gayle also enjoyed camping and fishing but she wouldn’t bait her own hook or take it off the hook.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Greater Kansas City or American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.
