Mildred Lucile Holtzclaw, 96, of Westmoreland, Kansas, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.

Mildred Lucile Holtzclaw, 96, of Westmoreland, Kansas, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.
She was born near Edgerton, Missouri on June 2, 1921, the daughter of Charley Elmer and Ruth (Downs) French. She was a 1939 graduate of Smithville High School.
Mildred worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone, Smithville; Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education, Smithville; Kaaz Construction, Leavenworth and worked beside her husband at Bill's Appliance and TV Center, Leavenworth, for 24 years until they sold the business.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Leavenworth, where she served as the first woman trustee of the church as well as a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, traveling abroad and spending time with family and friends.
Mildred married Charles Curtis Walker, Jr. on Sept. 2, 1939 in Smithville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1940. She married Billy Eugene Holtzclaw on May 26, 1959 in Leavenworth. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1989.
Survivors include her son, Ira Lee Walker; stepson, Michael (Marie) Holtzclaw and stepdaughter, Vicki (Martin) Zentner; granddaughter, Kymer Walker; step-grandchildren, Katrina (Fred) Tunnell, Jaimie Bostain; Michael Holtzclaw, Jr; Christine, Jessica and Jeffrey Zentner, step-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kyle Tunnell; Riley and Owen Bostain; Evan and Emily Siv-Holtzclaw and Madison and Tanner Resser; sisters, Mary Martha Taylor and Margaret (Loren) Little; sisters-in-law Helen (Howard) French, Joyce (Don) French and Jeanne (Charles Ezra) French and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Charles, John Leonard, Howard and Donald French; sister-in-laws, Delores (Charles Ezra) French and Wilma (John Leonard) French; brother-in-law, Alvin (Mary Martha) Taylor and daughter-in-law Brenda (Ira Lee) Walker.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Mar. 2, 2018 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth, Kansas. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 422 Chestnut St., Leavenworth with interment in the Smithville Cemetery, Smithville, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America, or American Red Cross.
