Melanie Deborah (Lee) Lochow, 27, of Leavenworth, died, Saturday, April 7, 2018.

Melanie Deborah (Lee) Lochow, 27, of Leavenworth, died, Saturday, April 7, 2018.  She was born July 26, 1990, the daughter of Howard and Maureen (Story) Lee.  
On May 31, 2014, Melanie married Paul A. Lochow, in Leavenworth. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her parents, Howard and Maureen; a younger brother, Brian; her in-laws, Helen and Jeff Lochow; her grandfather, Byron Story; and her grandparents, Donald and Ann Lee.
Melanie was a baptized believer in Jesus and held a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, an unwavering confidence in the hope of eternal salvation. She loved to pray and praise her savior and will be remembered by many at Wallula Christian Church for the wonderful way she would offer up worship using sign language while the church sang songs of praise. We know that Melanie is now with her Lord, Jesus, and we look forward to that hope in the resurrection, to a future together with her again, a great reunion where there will be peace and light and joy.  
Melanie was an intelligent, hardworking young woman and a natural leader who readily assumed duties supervising and organizing activities at her church and school. She was an active member of her church youth group, she served as a bible study teacher and was often called upon to coordinate youth group activities. Melanie also participated in many activities during her high school years with her interests spanning drama, dance and bible clubs. She participated and acted in several plays and musicals, was a member of the Power and Light Show Choir, served as a JROTC Sponsor, was an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and also served an officer in the National Honor Society. She received further recognition by the faculty of Leavenworth High School when they selected her as their 2008 Female Student of the Year.   
Following her graduation from Leavenworth High School, she attended a joint program of study at Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College. Melanie was active on the MCC traveling drama team, served on the student council and taught swing dancing. She graduated Magnum Cum Laud in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Manhattan Christian College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas, awarded in 2014. She worked as a nurse at several locations in Leavenworth and Wyandotte County and was most recently serving as a receptionist at the Smile Centre in Leavenworth.  
Melanie enjoyed scrapping booking and made marvelously intricate cards and gifts, she loved English dramas, like Downton Abbey, which reflected her great interest in history and she enjoyed watching and attending musicals. Melanie also loved to travel and sightsee, she spent many a vacation driving with her family visiting various national parks and historical sites. Despite being a Kansas girl, she loved the ocean and always savored those opportunities to spend time at the beach.  
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Wallula Christian Church. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Mount Muncie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Saint Vincent Clinic, Leavenworth, Kansas, where Melanie would volunteer on occasion as a nurse.
