David Lee Trottman, 74, of Leavenworth, died, Wednesday, May 16, 2018. He was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Parker, South Dakota, the son of Lester and Maybelle (Phelps) Trottman.
On July 16, 1966, David married Linda Kay Meyer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She survives at the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Dawn Trottman of Leavenworth; a granddaughter, Christina Petersen; five brothers, Kenneth, James, Roger, Dennis and Charles; and a sister, Leslie Murray.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Trottman; and a sister, Gloria VanZiteren.
He was a member of the Gideons, American Legion Post #411, a Sunday School Teacher at the DB and he was involved in Men of the Chapel.
David retired as a Sergeant Major from the United States Army in 1984. After retirement he worked for the Federal Civil Service.
He enjoyed woodworking, yard work and gardening.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon’s International.
