Wilma L. Spencer-Dennis, 91, Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2018.

Wilma L. Spencer-Dennis, 91, Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2018. Born Nov. 2, 1926, in Kinsley, Kansas, she was the daughter of William Weyrich and Eleanor (Montgomery) Weyrich.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Spencer, Ashburn, Virginia, and Steven and wife, Sandy, Atchison, Kansas; one stepson, John Dennis and wife, Kathy, Hendersonville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jim Spencer, Hollywood, Maryland and Megan Straley, St Petersburg, Florida; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Wyatt Spencer.
She is preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years, James Frederick Spencer and her second husband of 18 years, Lee Roy Dennis.
Wilma graduated from Kansas State University in 1948 and worked as a home demonstration agent in Council Grove, Kansas. She returned to school to get her teaching certificate and taught kindergarten for Fort Leavenworth’s school system for 31 years. She was an active member of PEO, the First Christian Church, and the Heritage Center in Leavenworth. She was an avid bridge player who enjoyed square dancing, the outdoors, and playing good practical jokes. Viewing will be conducted at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, Kansas. A private graveside service will be held in Humbolt, Kansas, for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 130 N 6th St, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
