Jonathan E. Smith (Jon Nichols), 29, of Leavenworth, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010.
Jon was born on August 14, 1981 in Smithville, MO. He graduated from Leavenworth High School and then attended Flint Hills Job Corp where he attained a cooking certificate and went on to use his skills as a Sous Chef.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He was also an avid video gamer. Animals and children were also very dear to his heart. Affectionately known to his friends as “Big Daddy”, he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Eldred J. Anderson Jr. and his aunt, Pam Keller.
He is survived by his parents Joel and Paula Smith; his stepmother Karrie Nichols; his grandmother Dolores Anderson; his brother David W. Nichols, Jr. (wife Sophie); his sisters Christina Kiziltas (husband Kerem),and Dawn & Amber Nichols; his nieces Samantha, Gabrielle, Brittany, and Angel; his nephew Devon; many extended family and his beloved dog Isha.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be given in care of the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
