Donald Robert Bohn
October 24, 1925 - January 23, 2012
Don was born  in Wamego, Kansas, October 24, 1925 to George A. and Lena Bellinder Bohn.  He was 86 and was preceded by his parents and sister Dorothy Robare.  He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughters Nancy Hegarty, Janice Bohn, and Linda Cortez, four grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
He attended grade schools in Manhattan, Wamego, Topeka, and Leavenworth, Kansas and graduated Immaculata High School, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1943.  Upon graduation he worked for the Leavenworth Union Depot & RR Company (where his father was Station Manager) providing transportation for troop movements from Fort Leavenworth.  After WWII Don was a Passenger Agent for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and Mid-Continent Airline in Kansas City, MO.
Drafted into the Army in January 1949, he completed basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, then was assigned to the Post Transportation Office.  Shortly after assignment he was made Chief of the Passenger Section even though he was only a Private.  In 1950 he was assigned to Korea to monitor railway operations in Chinhae.  After the Chinese intervention into the war, he was reassigned to the 23rd Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division returning home at the end of 1951 as a Sergeant.  Upon returning home he joined an Army reserve unit and was commissioned a Transportation Corps Second Lieutenant.  At this time he also entered Federal Civil Service at Fort Leavenworth, KS.  Through the years he progressed in both the Army Reserve and his civilian career, retiring in 1979 as a Lt. Colonel and as Program Manager for Veterans Employment for the U. S. Office of Personnel Management, San Francisco.
Donald and Mary Ann moved to California in August1966 and Camino in 1980.  They have lived and still have many friends in Stockton, Napa, San Diego, Orinda, and Pleasanton.  They both loved to travel.  Don had traveled from coast to coast by rail before he entered kindergarten.  After retirement he and Mary Ann toured Ireland, England, and France,  rode the Trans-Siberian Railway from Khabarovsk to Irkutsk, vacationed in Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, Guam and Japan.  Also in Hawaii more than 20 times.  In 2006 they visited South Korea on a special tour arranged by the South Korean government for 2nd Infantry Division veterans.  Don was a member of the Second Infantry Division Association, Korean War Veterans Alliance,  American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Don was well loved and will be missed by all.
