Charlotte Louise Burre, 98, died at 5:00 a.m. on January 25, 2012 at the
Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park, NY.
She was born in Lansing, KS on January 8, 1914.
She graduated second in her class from Leavenworth High School in 1931.
She graduated with high honors from St. John's Lutheran College,
Winfield, KS, in 1933.
In addition to being a homemaker all her life, she was a full time
teacher at St. Paul Lutheran school from 1933 to 1939 and a substitute
teacher for many years thereafter. She also served as a clerk at Bell
Hall, Post Exchange, and the Army Education Center.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's, where she played the organ,
sang, taught Sunday school, and belonged to the Ladies Aid and Mix and
Mingle groups. She was also a member of Cushing Hospital Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Burre, her parents Minnie
(Rodenburg) Merritson and Harry Merritson and her sister, Lorene Schimke.
She is survived by her sons David Burre of Magnolia, TX, and Charles
Burre of Clifton Park, NY; six grandchildren and their spouses: Craig
Burre (Sarah), Thomas Burre (Rebecca), Sarah Heller (Matt), Scott Burre
(Kristi), Virginia Tawa (Mark), Jonathan Burre (Jane); and seven
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday January 30, 2012 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the funeral service at 10:30 A.M.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
