    It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Beth Ann Young, on August 24, 2010 at the Baton Rouge General at the age of 46. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Brian Taylor and Father Tom Voorhies as Celebrants.
     Beth a native of Kansas and a resident of Basile was active with the Fairmount 4-H Club of Leavenworth County in the Beef and Food Preservation Programs from the age of 7-18 years old.  She was a 1982 graduate of Lansing High School where she was active in cheerleading, volleyball captain and a pitcher for softball. After graduation she went on to Kansas City, Kansas Community College and played softball. She was a LPN at the VA Center in Leavenworth, Kansas from 1987 to 1991 and from 1991 to 1999 she worked with Three Rivers Federal Complex and Oakdale Federal Bureau of Prisons.  She loved to travel and in 2005 her and Brently went to Mexico and in 2007 they went on a European Trip and Five Countries. With great courage and strength Beth fought a seven year battle with cancer, all the while finding hope and kindness in her family and friends. She was a former Co- Chairman for Relay for Life in Eunice. Beth was a special person, she never met a stranger and we will all miss her greatly.
     She leaves behind a loving and grateful family including her beloved husband, Brently Young of Basile; her mother, Dora L. Martin of Leavenworth, Kansas; her daughter, Brooke A. Young of Basile; her two sons, Kale J. Poor of Wichita, Kansas and Erik D. Poor of Beeville, TX; her brother, Ron Martin of San Diego, CA; and her sister, Susan Tucker and husband, Col Douglas and their children, Cole and Courtney of Navarre, FL.  Also mourning her loss is her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert and Helena Young and her two brothers-in-law, Brennon and wife, Angie, Douglas Young and sister-in-law, Selina all of Basile.
     Beth now rests in Heaven with her beloved father, Homer J. Martin.
     At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, August 26th from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, August 27th from 7:00 am until time of services. Father Brian Taylor will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
