Matthew Brian Byrne, 26, of Leavenworth, died unexpectedly, Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. He was born Oct. 25, 1983, at Fort Leavenworth, the son of James “Jay” F. and Margaret “Peggy” (Powers) Byrne Jr.
He is survived by his parents of Leavenworth; two brothers, James Byrne III of Overland Park, Kan., and Devin Byrne of Lawrence; his grandparents, James and Marion Byrne Sr.; his aunts and uncles, Leslee and Randy Greene, Stephanie and Steve Ollis and Robert Powers; a great-aunt, Mary Byrne; a great-uncle George Mallinckrodt; and several cousins.
Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.
He was a 2001 graduate of Immaculata High School. He also attended Kansas State University, Kansas University and Kansas City Kansas Community College.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at St. Casimir Catholic Church with Rev. Phillip Winkelbauer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immaculata High School.
