To the editor:

I attended the funeral service for Lt. Brian Davis (last week) at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. It was impressive to witness the expressions of honor from the U.S. Army and Brian’s correctional brothers and sisters from the United States Penitentiary.

I thanked the acting warden later for providing opportunity for USP staff members to attend both Brian’s and Jeff Sinclair’s funeral services. I have noticed the many people during my years of service who have attempted to take photographs of the institution. The architecture of the buildings and walls is imposing. What is even more impressive is the record of staff, like Brian and Jeff, who worked within those walls with honor. They, along with past and present line staff, are the heart and backbone of the institution. Brian and Jeff will be missed by their friends at USP Leavenworth.
