To the editor:
It is clear to anyone that bringing dangerous and infamous terrorists to the 2nd District puts our children and our neighborhoods at risk. President Obama has made it clear that he still intends to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center before the end of his term. The remaining detainees have to be moved somewhere and the administration refuses to assure they won’t be moved to the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth.
Many will say that there is no chance that these inmates could ever escape such a facility – and they are right. However, their very presence in our community puts our kids, schools, churches and businesses in the crosshairs of both organized terror organizations and self-radicalized lone wolf killers. Do we want Leavenworth to become the next Orlando or San Bernardino? Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins has led the charge to assure that President Obama does not succeed in making our community a prime terrorist target. Because of her tenacious leadership to keep us safe, I’m voting for Lynn Jenkins on Nov. 8 so we keep the strongest fighter for the safety of Kansans in Congress.
