To the editor:
I read with amazement the headlines in the Leavenworth Times Nov. 1. Apparently two out of three county commissioners have decided to fire two county attorneys, the human resources director and almost the county administrator.
It appears that the cost of legal fees is no problem for Smith and Klemp. Why should it be? It’s your money not theirs.
So to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I have reserved the north room of the Lansing Community Center on Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Please join me if you are interested in expanding the Leavenworth County Commission from three members to five members.
I have been working on this project for some time, but it appears there is no time like the present to get the ball rolling.
Please join me, as we work on the next steps to start a countywide petition to require the county commissioners to expand the Leavenworth County Commission from three to five members on the general election ballot in November 2018.
County Clerk Janet Klasinski has agreed to discuss the process and go over the petition with us to ensure that we complete the gathering of the 2,200-plus registered voter names in the most efficient way possible.
Please share this information with your friends, family and other residents who are tired of the antics of our present Leavenworth County Commission.
